Applying from within Canada (to become a student)
The categories of foreign nationals who may apply for a study permit (including to change or vary their existing conditions) after entering Canada are the following:
- have completed a short course or program (less than 6 months) of study that is a prerequisite to their enrolment at a DLI – Designated learning institutions

Beginners to B1 - 400 hours ($12/hr, 15 hours per week)
Most of the programs (DEP, AEC or DEC) require the students to at least have the B1 level of French.
A2 to B1 - 240 hours ($12/hr, 15 hours per week)
Most of the programs (DEP, AEC or DEC) require the students to at least have the B1 level of French.
